What to expect

From purchase to pickup

Contact us before the firearm ships. All incoming firearm shipments must come from a licensed FFL dealer. We will coordinate with the dealer, notify you when it is ready, and schedule your appointment.

01

Contact us before shipment

Send us your name, phone number, email address, seller information, and order details. We will confirm the transfer and coordinate the required FFL information with the seller.

02

The seller ships the firearm

The firearm must be shipped by a licensed FFL dealer after receiving our FFL information. We do not accept firearm shipments directly from private individuals.

03

We receive and record it

Once the firearm arrives, TommyGuns Transfers inspects the shipment and records it as required. Please do not schedule pickup based only on the carrier's delivery notice.

04

We contact you

We will let you know when the firearm is ready and arrange a private pickup appointment. All visits are by appointment only, with no walk-ins.

05

Complete the paperwork

At your appointment, you complete ATF Form 4473 in person and present valid government-issued photo identification showing your current residential address.

06

PICS check and pickup

TommyGuns Transfers submits the required Pennsylvania Instant Check System check. The firearm is released only after approval and completion of all required paperwork.

Your appointment

What to bring

Your documents must identify you and establish your current residence. If your photo ID does not show your current address, contact us before the appointment so we can confirm acceptable supplemental documentation.

Required

Valid photo identification

A current government-issued photo ID, such as a Pennsylvania driver’s license or identification card.

When needed

Current address documentation

Government-issued supplemental documentation may be required when the address on your photo ID is not current.

Most important

The actual buyer

The person receiving the firearm must complete the forms truthfully for themselves. Never purchase or receive a firearm for a prohibited person.

Face-to-face sales

Private-party transfers

For a private-party transfer, both the buyer and seller should attend the scheduled appointment with valid Pennsylvania identification. Bring the firearm unloaded and secured.

The buyer completes the required paperwork and PICS check. The firearm is transferred only after approval and satisfaction of all applicable requirements.

Good to know

Wait for our message.

A carrier’s delivery notice does not mean the firearm is ready for pickup. We must receive, inspect, and record it first. We will contact you when it is ready and ask that you arrange pickup within seven days of notification.
